My love of art techniques and rubber stamping got me started down my current path of designing jewelry. A real turning point in my life occurred when I participated in a class taught by the wonderful Jane Roulston. Jane's class was my first experience with PolyShrink and polymer clay, and I was immediately hooked! Those media led to my incorporating glass beads, charms, wire, fiber, and anything else interesting into my work. I strongly believe that the experience of creating should be joyful and playful, and I hope that that is the experience of those I lead in workshops. |
My education over the years includes a degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Penn State; certificates in Commercial Art from the Art Institute of Houston and Wilderness Camping from St. Leo’s College in Florida; and all the workshops from various artists that I could manage! Previously a graphic designer in the corporate world, I now work from my home. My husband, son, and two cats graciously tolerate my overrunning our house with art materials! When I’m not designing jewelry, I’m volunteering at my son’s school, our church, and for ASAP (Asperger Syndrome Alliance of Pennsylvania). Recently, I was excited to be involved in designing and editing a book by Jill Pierce on helping autism and Asperger children enhance their conversation skills. Samples of my work may be viewed at www.aestheticals.com Original pieces are available for sale at: Artisans ‘N More The Studio Tyler Arboretum Sales, fund raising, and class inquires welcome: |
Denise's favorite PolyShrink type is Translucent. She uses punches, Brilliance ink, chalk pastels, and Krylon metallic markers to create her designs. |
